Advanced Mammography

A mammography machine is designed to produce high-resolution breast images for the early detection and diagnosis of breast cancer enabling accurate screening and timely clinical decisions with advanced imaging technology.

What is Mammography?

Mammography is a specialized breast imaging technique that uses low-dose X-rays to detect early signs of breast cancer.
It helps identify tumors and abnormalities long before symptoms appear, making it one of the most reliable screening tools for women.

 How Koning Vera Scan Works

During your appointment, you’ll lie on the machine while it takes a series of detailed 3D images.

Here’s what you can expect:

Before the exam: The staff will give you a gown and bring you to a dressing room, where you’ll remove your clothing from the waist up, and any necklaces or glasses

Position: The imaging table is open with a depression in the center where the scanning takes place. The images are taken with you lying down so that the breast falls away from the body naturally.

Scanning Process: The CT scanner acquires high-resolution images of your breast from multiple angles without any direct contact on your body. The machine is quiet, without any significant sounds or vibrations of note.

Safety & Comfort:The Vera Scan uses a low radiation dose, ensuring your safety while providing high-quality images.
The machine’s design minimizes discomfort, making the experience as pleasant as possible. This streamlined and patient-friendly process ensures you receive the most accurate results quickly and without discomfort.

How Mammography Works

  1. The patient arrives and prepares for the scan.
  2. The breast is positioned between two plates.
  3. The machine compresses the breast briefly for a clearer image.
  4. Low-dose X-rays capture multiple views.
  5. Images are analyzed by radiologists for abnormalities.

FAQs

1. What is a mammography examination?

Mammography is a low-dose X-ray imaging technique used to examine breast tissue. It is one of the most effective tools for the early detection of breast cancer, often identifying changes before symptoms appear.

2. Is mammography safe?

Yes, the Koning Breast CT is safe. The radiation dose used during a KBCT scan is within the range of standard diagnosticmammograms.

This ensures that patients receive high-quality imaging while minimising exposure to radiation.

3. How long does a mammography scan take?

Patients benefit greatly from the Koning Breast CT as it eliminates the need for breast compression, resulting in a pain-free and more comfortable experience. The scan is also quick, taking only 7 seconds, and provides a full 3D image with no need for additional views. This ensures that potential abnormalities are visualised with greater accuracy, allowing for a confident diagnosis. Moreover, KBCT is effective for imaging all breast types, including small, large, dense breasts, and even those with implants.

4. What are the benefits of mammography?

Koning Breast CT offers superior diagnostic accuracy by providing high-quality isotropic 3D images that enable the visualisation of potential abnormalities without tissue overlap, which is a common limitation in traditional mammography. This is particularly beneficial for patients with dense breast tissue, where small lesions as tiny as 2mm can be detected with greater precision.

5. Do I need a doctor’s referral for a mammogram?

Yes, Koning Breast CT provides compelling economic benefits for healthcare providers. It allows for higher throughput with quicker scan times, leading to increased patient volume and improved efficiency. The KBCT system also replaces the need for multiple devices to perform biopsies, resulting in cost savings on capital equipment. Additionally, its small footprint requires minimal facility modification, making it a cost-effective solution for clinics and hospitals.

6.Where can I book a private mammography scan?

Koning Breast CT addresses several limitations of FFDM and DBT, such as the need for breast compression, which can exclude the chest wall and create compression artifacts. It also eliminates the ambiguity of distribution and measurement inaccuracies, providing a clear spatial representation of the region of interest (ROI). KBCT overcomes the difficulty in defining the extent of disease by offering true 3D volumetric imaging, ensuring a more comprehensive and accurate diagnosis
